Silence of the Grave (Grafarþögn – 2001)In 2005, Silence of the Grave became the second Erlendur novel to appear in English. As the detective struggles to save his drug addict daughter Eva Lind from herself, a body is found in a shallow grave in an old Reykjavik town that is being dug up to make way for suburbs. 2009-09-01 · This is my 5th book from Arnaldur, the 4th in the Erlendur series. As usual it is perfect, and I remain amazed by his skill at conveying all this atmosphere and story with such an economy of words. The plot itself, once again, is fairly basic if you boil it down to its skeleton, but this author remains exceptional in how he constructs it and how he wraps it while keeping you enthralled. by Arnaldur Indriðason First published in 2009 2 editions — 2 previewable Borrow , Mystery, Large type books, Lakes , Missing persons Arnaldur Indridason, author of the Reykjavík Thrillers, was born in 1961.

When examining Icelandic Noir, it’s impossible to ignore Arnaldur Indridason books and the contribution he has made to the genre. ARNALDUR INDRIÐASON won the CWA Gold Dagger Award for Silence of the Grave and is the only author to win the Glass Key Award for Best Nordic Crime Novel two years in a row, for Jar City and Silence of the Grave. Strange Shores was nominated for the 2014 CWA Gold Dagger Award. Arnaldur is my favourite crime writer of all time, for it is not just action and plot, but his characterisation, empathy and cultural authenticity. His prose is simple yet subtle. Each book in the series offers unfolding insights into the psychology, history and motivations of the main characters, flawed and moulded by their histories as they are.
